1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to deliver and improve your budgeting experience.
- Account Information: Name and email (only if you create an account). You can use many core features without creating an account.
- Budget & Expense Data: Budget categories, amounts, and notes you choose to save.
- Device Data: Basic, non-identifiable device information such as app version and system time zone, which is used solely to calculate and display correct budget start and end dates in your local time.
- Microphone Access (optional): Used only if you enable voice entry for expenses. Audio is processed locally and not stored or shared.
- Voice Processing & AI Assistance: When you use voice features, your speech is first converted to text on your device. The resulting text is then securely sent to our backend, where an AI service interprets the request (for example, to add, edit, or delete a budget or expense). We never include personal identifiers such as your user ID or email in what is sent to the AI service—only the text of your request. This process helps us provide voice-driven budgeting actions without exposing any personal data.
- Analytics: Anonymous usage metrics to help us improve app performance and design.
2. How We Use Information

3. Legal Basis for Processing
We collect and process your information with your consent, or when it is necessary to provide our core service. You may withdraw consent at any time within the app or by contacting us.
4. Data Storage, Retention & Security
- Your data is stored securely in encrypted form using trusted cloud providers.
- We retain data only as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service.
- All communications with our servers are encrypted using HTTPS.
- We never sell or rent personal information to third parties.
When you sign in, Banana Budget offers a “Remember Me” option to keep you securely logged in for up to 30 days. This creates an encrypted session token stored on your device, so you can access your account quickly without re-entering your credentials each time. The token expires automatically after 30 days or when you log out manually.
5. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party tools (for example, Firebase and analytics providers) strictly to support app functionality. Each provider is bound by contract to protect your information according to this policy and applicable privacy laws.
6. Your Rights
- Access & Edit: You can view or update your profile and budget data at any time within the app.
- Download Data: You may export your personal data from the app settings.
- Delete Account: You may permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile page. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
- Opt-Out: You may opt out of analytics tracking and email communications.
7. Children’s Privacy
Banana Budget is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we become aware of such information, we delete it immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may occasionally update this policy to reflect changes in our app or legal requirements. Any significant updates will be communicated via the app or email.
